Full Form:
An Adult Creative Summer Camp

Saturday, May 25th - Sunday, May 26th
At Nutty Brown Farm Near Dripping Springs

$195/Overnight Pass or $180/Non-Overnight Pass

Tickets include three two hour long creative workshops, two music performances, five hot meals, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options), camp games, tent camping, and access to ranch property. This is an intimate event and is subject to a limited capacity.

  • This workshop is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of the art of broad edge calligraphy. The materials, styles, and techniques of the art form will be covered in-depth as the student learns a simplified gothic script that focuses on the fundamental concepts inherent to all calligraphic styles.

  • In this workshop you’ll learn a brief history of stamped jewelry, and then create your own! You’ll use a variety of metal stamps to design your own custom motif that you’ll hammer into a cuff bracelet to keep forever.

  • This lesson is an introduction to block printing, or relief printing. With this medium, a design is carved into a base (typically a wood block, linoleum, or rubber) and this design is then transferred to paper with a thick ink. In this lesson, we will be carving small pads of rubber to make 4”x4” paper prints. We will work through a design, a drawing or a collage, and then walk through the printing process; transferring these designs to rubber, carving the rubber blocks, using a brayer to roll ink onto the stamp, and transferring your designs to paper. You will learn how to use the various tools in this process, as well as make a stamp and some prints to keep!

  • Anyone can create beautiful, one-of-a-kind clothing. Participants are encouraged to bring their gently used, light-colored garments to dye. Slightly stained or discolored items are perfect for tie-dye! We will bring extra tees and all the dye supplies necessary- bottles, gloves, rubber bands, newspaper, plastic bags, etc.

  • Participants will be led through a songwriting exercise that allows for free creative expression while also deepening the students understanding of song structure. You will be given the opportunity to work independently or pair up to write your own lyrics and melody. At the end of class each individual or songwriting group will have a finished song (at least a first verse and chorus).

  • Participants will get to take home some postcard size landscape art that is ink drawing + watercolor. Having three small postcards instead of one large to work on allows each to dry between each layer and takes the pressure off to create one perfect image.

Since 2021 we’ve been producing multi-day art and music showcases with a focus on building local, eclectic lineups that boost artists and grow Austin’s creative community.

To date, our lineups have featured…

186 artists

that made over $96k

79 musicians

who were paid over $47k

for a total of $143k
into the creative scene since 2021

Artists
should have low barriers to entry.

Many showcases, markets, festivals, exhibitions, and galleries require artists to pay high fees to participate. We believe this creates a barrier to developing artists who may not yet have confidence in their work or may not have access to the funds needed for their work to be seen by an audience. Each of our events has a public, free open call for creatives (of all mediums) to apply to show their work. If selected, all we ask is a small fee to assist with event costs.

Musicians
deserve to be
paid living wages.

We put our money where our mouth is. We never ask anyone to play for free and refuse offers from promoters and musicians to play sets at no cost or for visibility. We recognize that the music industry is a deeply problematic space where talent is often overlooked and poorly funded. We work with musicians to pay them the best rates for their sets that we possibly can and help advance their careers by getting them in front of a new audience.

Community
building is key.

At the end of the day, we are in the business of creating community. It would be a mistake to say our showcases are only about ensuring creatives succeed. We are intentional about building valuable, continuous relationships with one another. That’s why our events hold space for around half of our lineups to be people we’ve worked with previously while filling the other half with folks who are new to PietschHouse. If you’ve been to a show, you know what we’re talkin’ about.

  • Was awesome to have our debut show presented by PietschHouse. We had a great time and will always be happy to perform more events by this amazing group of people along side such an amazing artist group.

    Caravan Strange, Band

  • PietschHouse is a great group of people building up an art community in Austin. For me it's been great to meet and connect with artists and musicians, all while being given the chance to show my art off to the city.

    Andrew Dunlavey, Artist

  • Crucial Concerts for the Coming Week: Local rap greats take the stage for an intimate performance celebrating PietschHouse's second anniversary. The local production company curates showcases combining visual art and music, and notably threw the loaded New Bloom SXSW 2023 showcase at Planet K.

    The Austin Chronicle

  • An Eastside Evening: East Austin is the place to be this weekend, specifically along E. 12th St. Not only are there a lot of great shows to catch during the Eastside Kings Festival, but creative collective PietchHouse is offering a sneak peak of the Future Front House for Future Front Texas.

    KUTX

  • Playing PietschHouse was one of the best experiences I've had performing in Austin. I felt very well cared for and I can't express how crucial it was to have a gig that really valued paying artists at a time when a lot of shows exchanged that for exposure. As a musician, you sometimes have to take the exposure and I'm no stranger to that, but having this show allowed me to more freely take those other ones.

    Runnner, Band

  • Showcasing at PietschHouse is not just about selling - being a part of this community helps boost my socials, bring in other show opportunities, collabs, and I get to meet fellow artists who are basically my creative hype squad! I wouldn’t miss it for anything!
